Here is Why Maintenance Matters

As far as our clients are concerned, our smart wiring systems are capable of producing magic. These systems are certainly the backbone of our cutting-edge automation for home and business. But for all that technology, the seemingly mundane matter of maintenance still has a huge role to play in ensuring the ongoing operation of everything we install.

As we like to say, if you look after it, it will look after you. When it comes to listening, watching and using your smart home technology, keeping everything in working order is certainly a more affordable option than repairing or even replacing devices. That is why we recommend preventative maintenance to all of our clients.

Preventative maintenance, as the name suggests, is done to stop things from going wrong in the first place. This includes annual checks of switchboards, home automation systems and alarms that extend the life of your technology and equipment, and gives you added reassurance that everything is doing what it is meant to do. This reduces the chances of break-ins from security system failures, as well as fires and technical malfunctions.

When we install electrical, smart home or automation products, we can draw up a service contract. This ensures all checks and re-certifications are carried out at the right time without you having to worry about a thing. We’ll simply get in touch when it’s time for our technicians to carry out your regular check or service. During each check, if we spot anything that might pose a problem in the near future, we’ll let you know so you can choose to have it resolved there and then, or you can book a time for us to come back and take care of it.

Of course, no matter how well you adhere to a maintenance schedule, things can break down. It happens with every piece of machinery or equipment, including home automation technology. This is when another form of maintenance is called for: reactive maintenance. In other words, reacting to the situation and making things right as soon as we possibly can. Unlike many other companies working in our field, we won’t make vague guesses as to when something will be fixed. At EAV, we’ll ask “How soon is convenient to come to you?” and we’ll dispatch one of our skilled and registered electricians. 

Thanks to our preventative maintenance, there’s less need for reactive maintenance. So while you may be dazzled by the brilliance of our smart home technology, we recommend you keep your feet on the ground and take the practical step of ensuring maintenance is taken care of.
