Electrical preventative maintenance

Optimal maintenance of your home's electrical system requires preventive maintenance. When installing any type of system, after the job is completed our team takes the time to talk to our customers about the important topic of maintenance. We do this because it is critical to the continued operation of virtually every system or component we install.

Anyone who owns equipment, tools, or machinery knows that if you take good care of your equipment, it will take care of you. With an EAV service contract, you'll enjoy years of listening, watching and using your smart home technology. There's nothing worse than inviting guests to take a look at your "new" home and discovering that it doesn't live up to expectations! Maintenance can also save you money. It's a lot cheaper to keep everything organized than to fix something that's broken or isn't working properly. There are two types of maintenance: preventive and reactive.

Preventative Maintenance

Annual inspections of electrical panels, home automation and alarm systems extend the life of your technology and equipment and give you peace of mind. Prevention and service significantly reduce the chances of break-ins due to security breaches, fires and technical problems that every homeowner fears.

When we install electrical, smart home or automation products, we may enter into a service contract that ensures that all necessary inspections and recertifications are carried out at appropriate intervals. And you don't have to remember when - we will contact you when it's time for our technicians to perform your regular inspection or maintenance, giving you one less thing to remember. If we discover something that we think may soon become a problem, we will let you know so you can choose whether to fix it on the spot or book a time for our return.

Even though such programs include a huge number of different maintenance tasks, some basic procedures are included in each program. These may include:

  • Regular inspections of all living areas including bedrooms, kitchens, lounges, hallways, and bathrooms.
  • Close examination of outlets, circuit breakers, switchboards, and electrical distribution systems.
  • Check the wiring and connections in rooms, hallways, stairways, and attics.
  • Examine boxes for warning signs and other irregularities.
  • Checking indoor and outdoor lighting, relays, and control panels.
  • Identify and repair frayed wires close to water outlets in bathrooms.
  • Look for irregular wiring arrangements
  • Additionally, this includes checking for all major and minor signs of electrical malfunction such as short circuits, loose connections, visible burning and arcing.
  • Check functionality of your alarm system, including smoke detectors, remotes and the back up battery
  • Check and clean your CCTV cameras and make sure they are operating and recording correctly
